Rivet ("the extension") is designed with privacy as its default state. This policy describes what the extension does and does not do with your data.
The extension reads the closed-caption text that YouTube already renders on its video player and re-displays it as a single-word, RSVP-style overlay on top of the video. All processing happens locally in your browser.
None. The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any user data. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no remote logging, and no advertising.
The extension uses your browser's localStorage on the youtube.com origin to remember your preferences across sessions. The keys stored are:
This data never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time by clearing site data for youtube.com in your browser, or by uninstalling the extension.
The extension requests host access to *.youtube.com and youtube.com only. This permission is required to read caption text from the player; nothing else is read or modified, and no other origin is accessed.
The extension does not communicate with any third-party server, including those operated by the developer. The only network traffic on a page using this extension is YouTube's own.
The extension is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
If the privacy practices ever change, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the change. The extension will not retroactively start collecting data without an explicit, opt-in update.
